Award for Kerikeri branch of Carbon Neutral NZ Trust

Updated: Aug 4, 2021

Carbon Neutral NZ Trust Kerikeri Branch recently won the Northland Regional Council Whakamānawa ā Taiao Environmental Award 2021 in the category Environmental Action on Climate Change. The award was made in recognition of the creation of their free and easy Carbon Calculators for households and small businesses.

The purpose of the calculator is to enable people to determine their personal Carbon Footprint which enables them to realise how they can reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and along with New Zealand’s Team of 5 million, mitigate the effects on Climate Change.

While the Zero Carbon Act aims to guide “the big boys” like industries, businesses, farmers, governments to reduce their emissions, the charitable Carbon Neutral NZ Trust with branches in Kerikeri and Waiheke Island aims to include everyone: five million small contributions will accumulate to a large knowledge base of understanding.

“Ambassador” volunteers are presently sought to spread the calculator’s use throughout New Zealand: carbonneutraltrust.gmail.com

The award was one of 8 presented for various categories at NRC’s environmental award ceremony held at the Turner Centre in Kerikeri.

Lindsay Jeffs (CNT Chair), Amy McDonald (NRC Councillor), Inge Bremer (CNT Treasurer), David Clendon (FNDC Councillor), Kevin Lewis (CNT Trustee), Rolf Mueller-Glodde (CNT Deputy Chair), Lynda Jeffs (CNT Trustee)
