Kerikeri students demand climate action now!
We knew that the students were meeting up outside the MP for Northland's Kerikeri office at 11am. As we headed through town we were met by students, armed with placards, marching toward us, in bigger numbers than we had expected.
With the chant of "climate action now" those in town or driving through, could not help but get the message that has motived these kids to strike and protest. It was great to see so many expressing concern about their future, especially if we continue with "business as usual".
It was also great to see a few of the Carbon Neutral team marching in support. Rolf and Inge took the opportunity to let onlookers know that they could personally start taking responsibility for their own emissions - now!.
Here are a few photos of the Kerikeri protest - probably one of the biggest the town has seen for a while.
